The roll of thunder as the bowling ball zooms down the lane ...
The satisfying crash when it hits the pins in a strike ...
The heckling from friends as they wait for their turn ...

If you like to play with balls and knocking over pins and you also happen to be into sci-fi and fantasy, then this is the group for you. We have regular practice games every Thursday. The location changes but the date remains the same. This does not prevent us from playing on other days, too, of course.

Hope to see you at the next game!

Wizards vs. Heroes Bowling Challenge

Heroes Philippines has challenged Hogwarts Philippines to a bowling match on 15 March 2008 at 3pm at Paeng's Skybowl in Robinson's Galleria.

First it was Heroes season 1 vs. season 2.
Then it was Heroes vs. Pirates.
Now it is Heroes vs. Wizards/Witches.

Everyone is welcome to join in the fun. Sign up for either the Heroes team or the Wizards/Witches team. Or just be there to cheer everyone on. The important thing is to all have fun.

Quite a few of us (in SFF) have a problem about which team to play for because we are members of both Heroes and Hogwarts.
I'm a Ravenclaw and I have the robes and wand ... but I've never bowled in costume. I can do Monica for Heroes I have the clothes for that, too. Do I need to color my skin to cosplay Monica properly? Or bowl on my knees 'cause I'm too tall? hehehe

Hope to see you all

E-Lanes Bowling Center (Greenhills)

Location: Ortigas Avenue between Madison and Santolan
Contact Nos.: 723-0283; 723-0039
Contact Person: Ms. Florence Lim

I went to E-Lanes today on a recon mission. It used to be located at the shopping center but had moved to the building of Openpinoy (beyond Madison Street and before Santolan). Here is my assessment:

Accessibility - It is not difficult to go to because buses and jeeps pass in front of it all the time. However, considering the time we normally meet up is rush hour, it may take more time than we want to spend just getting there.

Affordability - It is comparable to the other bowling alleys we have gone to.

Cleanliness - It is very clean and smells great! No smell of sweaty feet or moldy corners anywhere.

Facilities

The bowling lanes are well lit.

The holes of the bowling balls are just the right size. Even a bowler with wide digits will have no trouble as there is a ball for everyone in every weight, from the 6 lb ball to the 16 lb ball. Y...

Bowling shoe prices

I canvassed for bowlling shoes over the phone today and this is what I came up with.

It comes in white and in beige.
Bowlmart sells local shoes for P2,500 to P3,500. Imported (branded) shoes can go all the way up to P9,000.

I'm thinking of dropping by Greenhillls tiangge to see if I see any there for P300 to P500.

AMF Puyat Sports (Farmer's Plaza, Cubao, Quezon City)

Location: 4/F Farmer's Plaza
Contact Nos: 911-1363; 911-1566

The lanes were good.
The holes on the bowling balls were big enough that our thumbs didn't get stuck. Well, mine did, once, then I changed the ball and then it was ok. There were more balls with big holes than small holes.
The screens were clear and you don't have to squint to see your scores.
The graphics was simple. They didn't have the funky graphics of Coronado Lanes (Starmall) or Paeng's (Galleria).
The lighting was a little dark but not so dark that you wouldn't be able to find your lane or see the pins as your rev up for a strike.
We are allowed to bring in food. The only thing they ask is we get the drinks from them. Warning, though. The drinks are expensive. P35 is the base price (coke, tea, beer). They also serve peanuts.

Best of all ...
P55 per game up to 5pm
P65 per game from 5pm to closing and on weekends
P20 shoe rental
ALL YOU CAN PLAY for P300 if you play between 10am to 5pm on weekd...
